Photography dealer Kathy McCarver Root and her gallery, KMR Arts, proudly announce the opening of its latest show of fine art photography, “Sally Gall: Selections From 25 Years of Photography.” The exhibition will open May 26 with a reception from 2-5pm and will continue through July 21, 2012.

On May 26, KMR Arts’ will feature a one person exhibition by the photographer, Sally Gall. For twenty five years, Gall has been internationally known as a sensual interpreter of nature with a rigorous romantic vision. Gall's work expresses the visceral experience of being in the natural world, a world that encompasses wilderness as well as cultivated nature. Water is a frequent subject matter throughout her oeuvre. Her first book , The Water's Edge, was an meditation on bodies of water and on the intersection of water and land and water and sky. For her next project, Gall completed a body of work whose subject matter was the "twilight zone" between daylight and darkness found in the mouths of caves and grottoes. This body of work became a book, Subterranea, published in 2002. In 2005, Gall began to photograph in color, a major shift for the artist. In her series "Blossoms," she worked closer to home in Central Park (NYC) on a refined investigation of nature, abstractly capturing the vivid colors of blossoming trees. The color photographs of "Crawl " followed, exploring the world of flora and fauna at our feet. Recently she has returned to black and white photography and a series of images capturing the abstract details of spider webs’ intricacies.

Sally Gall received a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1978. Gall lives and works in New York City and Tuscany, Italy. Sally Gall’s photographs are in the following museum collections: Bibliotheque Nationale, Paris, The Cleveland Museum of Art, George Eastman House, The Hood Museum of Art, Dartmouth College, NH, Montclair Art Museum, Montclair, NJ, Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, New Orleans Museum of Art, New Orleans, LA, The Norton Museum of Art, Palm Beach, FL, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, San Francisco, CA, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, NY, The Whitney Museum of American Art, NY among others.

Kathy McCarver Root says, “I have known Sally Gall and her work for 20 years. Her elegant, classical compositions rendered in meticulously crafted prints yield images that connect with other mediums such as paintings. I am privileged to work with such an established artist.”
